ROBOTIC RADICAL PROSTATECTOMY PRE-OPERATIVE INSTRUCTIONS
If you are currently awaiting a robotic prostatectomy, it is essential for your own safety and for the success of your surgery that you carefully read and obey these instructions.
Medications
- 7 days before surgery STOP taking any Aspirin, Motrin (ibuprofen) and any other blood thinners including Herbal medications and Multi-Vitamins. (click here to see list)
- Take usual doses of heart, diabetic, thyroid, and cholesterol medication on the morning of surgery with a sip of water.
Fleets Enema
- Fleets enema take at 8pm day before surgery.
Clear Liquid Diet
- The day before your surgery, please follow a clear liquid diet. This includes the following.
Tea, broth, popsicles, water, gatorade, apple juice, cranberry juice, grape juice, black coffee, jello, and cola / 7-up.
**** Do not drink orange juice, tomato juice, or milk****
Nothing to eat or drink after midnight before surgery
